A cinematic AI-generated video ad that brings Punjab's Phulkari embroidery to life for Virasat Phulkari, an Amritsar-based shop.
Project Overview
Virasat Phulkari is more than fabric. It is a centuries-old Punjabi craft, stitched by hand and passed down through generations. For this project, I created a fully AI-generated video ad for Virasat Phulkari, a shop in Amritsar that keeps this tradition alive.
The goal was to show the colour, texture and cultural warmth of Phulkari in a short, scroll-stopping video for social media, without the cost and logistics of a traditional shoot.
Challenge & Solution
Virasat Phulkari, a local Amritsar shop, lacked online visibility. Traditional shoots were costly, and its handcrafted Phulkari needed a video ad that could reach nearby shoppers and tourists.
I created a cinematic AI-generated ad with authentic Phulkari textures and Amritsar's heritage feel, ending with location details to bring local customers and visiting tourists to the shop.
Research
I started by speaking with the shop owner to understand their vision for the ad, what the shop stands for, and what kind of customers they wanted to attract. I then watched several AI-generated ads on social media to see what is trending, what holds viewers' attention, and how local businesses present themselves.
From the owner's input and this trend research, I identified four key focus points: clear shop visibility, the landmark suggested by the owner to help people find the shop, customers shopping and walking out happily with their bags, and closing with location details as a call to action.
Based on these points, I made a rough storyboard to plan the flow of the ad.
Car stops; customers enters the shop.
Customers admires a Phulkari dupatta.
Customer leaves smiling; location details appear by child boy.
Design Process
Wireframes
I started with my final idea and detailed prompts for every scene. Each scene took 3 to 4 generations, where I compared results, refined the prompts, and adjusted details like texture, lighting, and composition until the visuals matched the owner's vision and felt final.
Final Designs
The final ad opened with a clear view of the shopfront and followed by clear view of vibrant Phulkari and happy customers walking out with their bags. It closed with clear location details along with the owner's suggested landmark, all paced tightly in warm, premium tones for social media.
"The ad captured the beauty of our Phulkari and showed our shop exactly the way we imagined it. Customers now find us easily, and many say they saw the video before visiting."
Amit Devgan, Owner Virasat PhulkariDesign System
A major part of this ad was defining its color scheme, theme, and overall vibe. I chose a red and yellow cultural palette rooted in Punjabi heritage, with red as the lead since it is the main brand color on the shop's signboard. Warm yellow was paired with it to add festive energy and highlight the Phulkari craftsmanship.
